This period style dwelling was presented to C&BD with huge potential to be unleashed. The home was in need of rejuvenation to accommodate the contemporary lifestyle of the client’s young family.​
​With the distinctive features of Melbourne’s iconic period era homes consisting of narrow, single frontage building footprints and small windows, the client’s main priorities were to obtain more natural light internally and improved living amenity.
​The proposed alterations and additions were to reconfigure the existing floor plan in addition with a light-filled modern extension to create a more open plan kitchen and living area.
​
A sense of openness where the interior space flows to the outside was important to the client and this was achieved with the use of large bi-fold doors, allowing natural light & ventilation to flow into the living area throughout the day.
