The existing civic centre, a heritage building dating back to 1895, serves as a testament to the community's history. Its floor plan features an intricate design of flexible gathering spaces, key joinery elements, and vital social infrastructure. With meeting spaces, lecture areas, and performance zones, the civic centre fosters connections and engages residents in meaningful ways. This unique blend of history and modern functionality makes it a cornerstone of our community.
The space transformed with the use of vibrant colors that bring life the feature walls and curtains. Complemented by sleek timber flooring and modern furniture, each element works harmoniously to create an inviting atmosphere.
A unique range of materials and finishes, to celebrate the diversity within the community.
Vibrant, full-length curtains that define the areas and elegantly divide spaces. Mirrors are strategically placed throughout the space, reflecting the community back onto itself and serving as a constant reminder of the significance each person holds in these shared environments.
The existing internal walls were carefully retained during the demolition process, showcasing the structure's historical integrity. As the debris from the many various renovations that had been undertaken at the centre over the years was cleared away, a beautiful checkerboard flooring emerged, revealing intricate patterns that had long been hidden from the buildings original construction. This restoration effort highlights the seamless blend of the old and new, honoring the building's rich heritage while bringing it back to life. The result is a stunning space that pays tribute to its past while embracing a fresh future.
Custom-made furniture helped transform the space, which was meticulously crafted by CBD. The pieces were designed to complement the vibrant feature walls and furnishings, creating a harmonious look that enhanced the centre's aesthetic.
