ESSENDON

RESIDENCE

C&BD was charged with creating a large modern family home from the three-bedroom residence which was present on this amazing elevated site in West Essendon. The client wished to retain as much of the existing building structure as possible, which provided a challenging design task. The site conditions presented further hurdles due to the considerable slope and a "no go zone" power easement cutting diagonally across one third. The resulting tri-level five-bedroom residence is a unique angled building with hidden complexity. A striking addition to the neighbourhood.

The combination of charcoal standing seam cladding, recycled clinker bricks and cement render creates a perfect contrast.

The feature timber stair provides a  warm divergence from the crisp white walls and porcelain floor tiles.

In addition to the stunning kitchen, a substantial butler's pantry, with abundant extra storage, was incorporated into the design.
