MCKINNON
EXTENSION
CBD was tasked with re imagining the rear of the dwelling, to enhance both functionality and aesthetic appeal. The final design includes a thoughtfully designed extension that seamlessly integrates with the existing structure, the addition of a new garage and a complete renovation of the bathroom. The aim was to optimise space, enhance flow, and create a more cohesive living environment. This transformation balances modern living needs with the character of the original dwelling, delivering a refined and practical outcome.

ROLE
Lead Designer
The rear transformation seamlessly blends modern design with the original structure, balancing old and new. By utilising black cladding it create striking volume externally and with oaring ceilings and expansive glazing it enhances the home's connection to the outdoors.
Thoughtfully selected materials refine the relationship between light, space, and functionality, while crisp lines and meticulous detailing bring modern elegance. This extension revitalizes the residence, showcasing how innovative design can transform living spaces for contemporary needs.

Connection to the outdoors was of heavy importance to the client, this is why the glazing from the living room, extends through to the kitchen and continues to the ceilings with seamlessly integrated skylights.

A recessed wall section elegantly houses the vanity and mirror, framed by a glossy, rich navy tile splashback that enhances depth and contrast. The high-aggregate concrete-look floor tiles introduce a raw, tactile element.
Bold, dark-toned cabinetry contrasts with crisp white surfaces for a refined aesthetic, while a timber table brings a natural element, further connecting the indoors with the outdoors and enhancing modern warmth.
