ROLE
Designer and Builder
The generous entry opens to an impressive double curved staircase leading up to the second floor, which houses four family suites. The luxurious master bedroom with ensuite, huge walk-in-robe and private terrace is situated on the ground floor, along with a generous guest bedroom and ensuite. The ground floor accommodation also includes a theatre room, formal lounge, billiards room, gym and sauna. The open plan living/dining/kitchen/bar leads seamlessly to the al fresco entertainment area with integrated barbecue/kitchenette. A butler’s pantry, that would be the envy of amateur and professional cooks alike, completes the ground floor offerings.

An underground basement consisting of ample carparking, storage areas and a wine cellar is serviced by a unique circular lift, which also rises to the top floor opening to a dramatic “landing” with a huge skylight above and a glass floor underfoot. This double tiered skylight allows light to penetrate to the centre of the building, through the second floor to the ground floor below. Providing for the younger family members, a half-court basketball/badminton facility graces the dwelling’s back yard.

While the building itself has a traditional appearance, the construction methods employed are not your every day. The external walls are constructed using Dincel panels, a structural polymer formwork which is filled with ready mixed concrete, producing an economical, strong, durable structure which can be rendered, painted or clad.
The suspended slab floor and roof are constructed using Ultrafloor precast concrete beams. Metal tray deck is installed between the beams to support the slab which is poured in situ. This method significantly reduces the amount of concrete and reinforcement required.

C&BD prides itself in keeping abreast of new technologies which provide savings to their clients, and embraces the challenge of dealing with the latest construction methods on site.
